At St. Paul Catholic Church, the safety and well-being of our parishioners—especially children and vulnerable adults—is our highest priority.
After your volunteer application has been reviewed, our staff will guide you through the required Safe Environment training and fingerprinting process. We are here to assist you every step of the way and thank you for helping us maintain a safe and welcoming parish community.
Every volunteer at St. Paul has specific responsibilities, but all share the common duty of representing the parish with kindness, integrity, and Christian charity. Whenever you serve in any ministry, you are acting on behalf of St. Paul Catholic Church. Your words and actions should reflect those of a faithful disciple of Christ, marked by respect, professionalism, and genuine care for others.
Communication: If you are unsure of a procedure or are unable to serve as scheduled, please notify your ministry leader as soon as possible.
Engagement: Carry out your assigned responsibilities to the best of your ability. Volunteers may not establish new rules, policies, or procedures outside the scope of their ministry. Please follow the directives of the Pastor and the parish office at all times. St. Paul Catholic Church has its own identity, mission, and parish culture. Customs or practices from other parishes should not be introduced unless they have been approved by the Pastor.
The safety and well-being of everyone at St. Paul Catholic Church is our highest priority.
Health: Please volunteer in roles that match your physical abilities. Some ministries require lifting, prolonged standing, reading, writing, or other physical tasks. If you have any limitations, please speak with the parish office. We will gladly help you find a ministry where you can share your gifts and talents. If you are feeling ill or have a contagious illness, please stay home to protect our parish community, especially children, the elderly, and other vulnerable individuals.
Minors: Volunteers under the age of 18 must have parental or guardian consent and, depending on the ministry, may require adult supervision. For safety reasons, the parish may restrict minors from participating in certain activities or events. Our first priority is always the safety and well-being of our entire parish community.
While serving at St. Paul Catholic Church, you may have access to confidential information concerning parishioners, volunteers, staff, or parish operations. Any information learned through your ministry or volunteer service must remain strictly confidential and may not be shared with others.
Privacy: Personal, financial, medical, family, marital, or other sensitive information must always be treated with the utmost confidentiality. Volunteers are expected to respect the privacy and dignity of every person they serve.
Discretion: Do not discuss the personal circumstances or private needs of parishioners, volunteers, or staff outside the context of your ministry or with anyone who does not have a legitimate need to know. This obligation extends beyond parish property and continues in all settings, including personal conversations and social media.
To protect the integrity of our parish and the people we serve—especially children and vulnerable adults—volunteers must avoid any actual or perceived conflicts of interest.
Volunteers should not allow personal, financial, or other interests to influence their service to St. Paul Catholic Church. No volunteer may accept gifts, compensation, favors, or any personal financial benefit in connection with their volunteer ministry.
If you believe a conflict of interest exists or may arise, please disclose it promptly to your ministry leader or the parish office so it can be reviewed and addressed appropriately.
Dismissal from Volunteer Services
St. Paul Catholic Church reserves the right to end a volunteer’s service when their conduct is inconsistent with the mission, values, and policies of the parish.
Volunteers are required to complete all necessary Safe Environment requirements, including fingerprinting when applicable, and maintain current training and workshops as required by the Diocese of Orlando.
A volunteer’s service may be discontinued for reasons including, but not limited to, failure to follow parish policies, violation of confidentiality, conduct that does not reflect Christian charity and integrity, or failure to comply with health and safety requirements.
The parish remains committed to protecting the dignity, safety, and well-being of the entire St. Paul Catholic Church community.
Media Relations and Public Communication
To ensure a unified, accurate, and consistent message, all volunteers serving in ministerial roles should exercise prudence when approached by members of the media seeking comments, interviews, or official statements related to St. Paul Catholic Church.
Volunteers should respectfully refer all media inquiries to the parish office or designated parish staff member. Only authorized representatives of the parish may provide official statements or speak on behalf of St. Paul Catholic Church.
This practice helps protect the privacy of our parishioners, maintain clear communication, and ensure that all public information reflects the mission and values of our parish.
- Official Statements:
All inquiries from the press or media regarding parish matters, activities, or operations must be directed to the Pastor, the Parish Office, or the Diocese of Orlando Office of Communications. Only designated representatives are authorized to provide official statements on behalf of St. Paul Catholic Church. They will ensure that any response provided to the media is accurate, appropriate, and consistent with the mission and values of the Church. - Social Media:
- Volunteers are encouraged to use social media responsibly and thoughtfully, recognizing that their words and actions can reflect on St. Paul Catholic Church. Please respect the dignity of every person and promote a spirit of charity, respect, and Christian dialogue.
- Volunteers should refrain from posting or sharing comments that are disrespectful, divisive, or diminish any individual or group of people. When engaging online, please strive to reflect the values and mission of the Gospel and the welcoming spirit of our parish.
Dress Code and Punctuality
Attire:
Volunteers are expected to dress in business casual or modest attire appropriate for a house of worship. Those serving in liturgical ministries should pay particular attention to decorum, respect, and prudence, recognizing the sacred nature of serving in the house of God. Our appearance should reflect the dignity of the ministry and help create a welcoming and reverent environment for all.
- Men are encouraged to wear long pants, dress shoes, and a dress shirt or a polo shirt with appropriate footwear.
- Women are encouraged to wear a modest-length skirt or dress, or long pants with a blouse or polo shirt and appropriate footwear.
- All volunteers should choose attire that reflects the dignity of serving in a Catholic church and promotes a respectful, welcoming, and reverent environment.
Other Ministries:
Certain ministries, such as maintenance, the thrift store, festivals, and other service-oriented activities, may have more flexible attire requirements based on the nature of the work. Volunteers should always dress appropriately, safely, and respectfully while representing St. Paul Catholic Church.
Punctuality:
Our ministries depend on the commitment and presence of our volunteers. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled service time to allow sufficient time for preparation, organization, and any necessary instructions. Being punctual helps ensure that each ministry can serve the parish community effectively.
