What We Do
Members of this ministry offer prayers on behalf of others and the needs of the world. Through intercession, we lift the intentions of individuals, families, the Church, and the world to God. This prayer reflects the prayer of Christ Himself, who continually intercedes for us and invites us to share in His mission of bringing others before the Father.
Purpose of this Ministry
The purpose of this ministry is to strengthen the spiritual life of St. Paul Catholic Church by inviting parishioners to pray intentionally for the needs of others. Members may participate according to their state in life: some may gather at the parish for scheduled times of communal prayer, while others may faithfully intercede from home.
Home participation allows the sick, elderly, homebound, caregivers, busy parents, workers, and anyone with limited availability to remain actively connected to the prayer mission of the parish. Each week, the parish office will provide a list of prayer intentions so that all participants, whether praying at church or at home, may unite their hearts in prayer for the same needs of our parish community and the world.
Ways Participants Can Pray
Participants are encouraged to choose forms of prayer that help them pray with attentiveness, reverence, and faithfulness. This ministry is not limited to one particular style of prayer; rather, it embraces the many ways Catholics can intercede for others and offer their daily lives to God.
- Personal Quiet Prayer: Set aside a few minutes each day to pray silently for the weekly intentions.
- The Rosary: Offer a decade or a full Rosary for the needs of the parish community and those entrusted to our prayers.
- Divine Mercy Chaplet: Pray especially for the sick, the dying, families experiencing difficulties, and all those in need of God’s mercy.
- Scripture Prayer: Reflect on a passage from Sacred Scripture and bring the weekly intentions before God in the light of His Word.
- Eucharistic Adoration: When possible, bring the parish intentions before the Lord in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.
- Offering Daily Sacrifices: Unite ordinary struggles, acts of service, fasting, or personal sacrifices with Christ’s offering for the intentions entrusted to the ministry.
- Family Prayer: Include the weekly intentions during family prayer, before meals, or at bedtime.
- Short Daily Prayers: Even a brief prayer offered with faith and love contributes to the spiritual support and mission of this ministry.
Commitment of Intercessory Prayer Members
Members of the Intercessory Prayer Ministry are encouraged not only to pray regularly but also to offer small sacrifices as part of their spiritual commitment. These offerings may include setting aside time for personal prayer, participating in group prayer when possible, or uniting daily challenges and sacrifices with the intentions of the parish.
Through prayer and sacrifice, members help foster unity, compassion, and a deeper spiritual connection within our parish community. Each participant is invited to renew their commitment to this ministry every month as a continued response to God’s call to pray for others.

If you would like the Intercessory Prayer Ministry to pray for a special intention, please submit your request to the parish. Your intention will be included in our prayers as we unite our hearts in seeking God’s grace, healing, guidance, and peace for those in need.
