Baptism
Holy Baptism is the foundation of the Christian life. It is the gateway to life in the Holy Spirit and the door through which we enter the life of the Church and receive the other sacraments. Through Baptism, we are cleansed of sin, reborn as beloved children of God, united with Christ, welcomed into His Church, and called to share in the Church’s mission of proclaiming the Gospel.
Water
Water is the primary symbol of Baptism, representing both purification and new life. Through the waters of Baptism, original sin is washed away, and we are reborn in Christ as new creations, sharing in His divine life.
Sacred Chrism
The Sacred Chrism is a perfumed oil consecrated by the bishop and used in the celebration of Baptism. It symbolizes the gift of the Holy Spirit, who strengthens and seals the baptized as belonging to Christ. Through the anointing with Chrism, the baptized are consecrated to God and called to share in Christ’s prophetic, priestly, and kingly mission.
White Garmen
The white garment symbolizes that the baptized has “put on Christ.” It represents the new dignity, purity, and life of grace received through Baptism as we are freed from sin and clothed with the new life of Christ.

Requirements
Parents requesting Baptism for their infant are expected to be registered members of the parish and practicing Catholics who seek to raise their child in the faith. In the case of an interfaith marriage, this expectation applies to the Catholic parent. Before a Baptism date is scheduled, parents are required to meet with the Baptism Coordinator and participate in a pre-Baptismal preparation session.
Baptisms may be celebrated at most Masses throughout the year, allowing the newly baptized to be welcomed into the worshipping community.
Adults who desire to enter the Catholic Church are welcomed through the Easter Vigil celebration, where they receive the Sacraments of Christian Initiation—Baptism, Confirmation, and the Holy Eucharist—after a period of formation and preparation through the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA).
